Department of Music
Excellence. Creativity. Community.
The Department of Music offers many opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, both majors and non-music majors. Whether you want to become a music teacher, performer or just desire a liberal arts education with emphasis in music, the Department of Music has a degree program to suit your needs.
Music Opportunities
As a student you are provided with many performance opportunities including orchestra, choir, band, opera, musical theatre, and chamber music. For example, the UND String Quartet and the Red River Trio recently performed in China and Japan, the UND Wind Ensemble performed at the prestigious Western International Band Clinic in Seattle, and the UND Chamber Orchestra performed at the music festival in Brazil. The Pride of the North Athletic Bands often travel with the UND sports teams to various events. Follow events throughout the year on the UND Music Facebook page.
Our faculty receive national and international recognition for their talents, which they bring back to the classroom to share with you. The music faculty consist of specialists in the major orchestral and band instruments, voice, piano, music history, composition, conducting and music education. We pride ourselves on personal attention to students, high standards, and a close working relationship with the Grand Forks community.
Interested in starting your career in music? The UND Music Department will provide you with the experience you need to be successful.
