The Department of Music offers many opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, both majors and non-music majors. Whether you want to become a music teacher, performer or just desire a liberal arts education with emphasis in music, the Department of Music has a degree program to suit your needs.
Music Opportunities
As a student you are provided with many performance opportunities including orchestra, choir, band, opera, musical theatre, and chamber music. For example the:
- UND String Quartet and the Red River Trio recently performed in China and Japan.
- UND Wind Ensemble performed at the prestigious Western International Band Clinic in Seattle.
- UND Chamber Orchestra performed at the music festival in Brazil.
- Pride of the North Athletic Bands often travel with the UND sports teams to various events.

Our faculty receive national and international recognition for their talents, which they bring back to the classroom to share with you. The music faculty consist of specialists in the major orchestral and band instruments, voice, piano, music history, composition, conducting and music education. We pride ourselves on personal attention to students, high standards, and a close working relationship with the Grand Forks community.
