Scholarships

UND Music awards two types of scholarships. Music Major Awards are awarded to music majors over four years. Performance Awards are offered to selected students who participate in ensembles. All awards are based on superior musicianship. Students must reapply for these scholarships each year.

Apply for Music Scholarships

There are four steps to apply for music scholarships:

  1. Apply to UND.
  2. Complete the FAFSA.
  3. Sign up for a UND Music Scholarship audition.
  4. Once you have been accepted to UND and you have submitted your FAFSA, apply for additional scholarships through Scholarship Central.

Visit University Financial Aid for additional information.

Can I receive a scholarship if I am not a music major?

Yes! There are scholarships available for students who participate in ensembles but are not music majors.

Do I need to apply to UND and be accepted in order to apply for a music scholarship?

Acceptance to UND is not required in order to receive a scholarship offer. However, by being accepted to UND, you will be able to identify many other scholarships for which you are qualified, and receive a comprehensive aid package.

Do I need to fill out the FAFSA?

No, but many scholarships require a completed FAFSA for eligibility. Not all scholarships are need-based but still require the FAFSA to be on file.

When are the auditions dates for music scholarships?

Live and Zoom auditions will take place on February 6th, 2021. All recorded auditions must be received by February 8th, 2021 for first consideration of scholarships.

What if I can't make the audition date?

First, fill out the Music Scholarship Application. Next, email UND Music to arrange an alternate audition date.

Do I need an accompanist for the scholarship audition?

Accompanied auditions are recommend for vocalists, and a UND accompanist will be provided if requested. Instrumental auditions do not require accompaniment.

Who can apply for scholarships?

Students planning to enter UND for the Fall 2021 semester may apply for scholarships.

When will I find out if I received a scholarship?

The Music Department will notify scholarship recipients of the decision in mid-February. Depending on when the FAFSA is received, newly accepted students will receive notice of UND's comprehensive financial aid packages beginning in March.

What is the deadline to apply for scholarships?

UND Financial Aid recommends acceptance to UND and application for all scholarships/aid be completed before February 1st. Visit the Financial Aid page for more information.
