Strings at UND
The UND Strings Area offers applied instruction in violin, viola, cello and double bass.
Students from around the world participate in our undergraduate and graduate degree programs, taking part in diverse chamber ensembles groups including string quartets, piano trios and cello ensemble.
Students develop performing and listening skills through weekly studio master classes, monthly department showcases, and studio recitals. In addition, internationally distinguished guest artists visit the UND Music Department to give master classes. Recent visitors include: Ying Quartet, David Ying, Peter Howard, Leonardo Altino and Sachiya Isomura.
Dr. Alejandro Drago directs the University Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra performs several concerts each year and also collaborates with the Opera Division. The Orchestra is open to all students by audition, including non-music majors.
