About CSD
CSD Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) is to meet the needs of the University of North Dakota (UND) and its surrounding community in the discipline of communication sciences and disorders, especially in the area of speech-language pathology. Specifically, the mission of CSD is to:
- Provide academic and clinical instruction, supervised clinical practica, and research experiences for undergraduate and graduate-level students.
- Conduct research with the aim of contributing to the body of knowledge concerning communication processes and communication disorders.
- Provide clinical services to individuals, groups, and agencies within North Dakota and the region.
- Participate in the governance of the College of Arts & Sciences (A&S) and the University.
- Provide professional leadership within local, state and national organizations.
CSD Strategic Plan
Goal 1: Develop, implement, and review plan for program assessments.
- Obj 1.1. Review graduate program including course objectives, sequencing, and assessment procedures. Review alignment of graduate curriculum with ASHA standards annually.

Goal 2: Expand representation of culturally and linguistically diverse populations within faculty, students, clients, and coursework.
Goal 3: Promote relationships among CSD faculty, students, and alumni.

Goal 4: Enhance opportunities for research and creative activities.

Goal 5: Educate the campus community and greater community about the fields of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
- Obj 5.1 Engage in pre-professional recruitment activities in the community.
- Obj 5.2 Participate in campus-sponsored recruiting events.
