Student Success and Outcomes
The University of North Dakota’s Forensic Science Program is dedicated to preparing students for success in a wide range of professional and academic pathways.
Overview
Based on survey responses from the 2022 through 2025 academic years, more than half of graduates reported being employed, enrolled in graduate or professional school, or actively seeking employment shortly after graduation.
Graduates have pursued careers in forensic science, healthcare, laboratory sciences, and public safety, with employers including Altru Health System, Phillips County Hospital, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) in Bemidji, Minnesota, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Division of Forensic Sciences, Quincy Police Department, Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office, Grand Forks Police Department, and BODE Technology. Others have continued their education at institutions such as the University of North Dakota, University of Minnesota, University of Utah School of Medicine, and the University of New Haven, studying fields like medicine, optometry, chemistry, and forensic science.
Graduating seniors consistently report high satisfaction with the program. In the most recent survey, 100% of respondents rated their overall experience as “Excellent” or “Good,” and all felt prepared for a career in forensic science. Over 90% rated their skill development in communication, critical thinking, professionalism, and teamwork as “Good,” “Very Good,” or “Superior.”
Experiential learning is a hallmark of the program, with numerous students participating in practicums or research opportunities. These experiences enhance students’ readiness for both employment and graduate study.
