Area High School Art Exhibition
The UND Department of Art & Design's Area High School Art Exhibition is an annual
juried exhibition that showcases the artwork of students from high schools throughout
the region.
The exhibition is made possible through the generous funding provided by the Colonel
Eugene E. Myers Foundations.
Area High School Exhibition 2022
This year's exhibition features 64 artworks made by students from six regional high
schools.
About the Juror
Paige Prekker, UND Art & Design Alumna and Graphic Design Specialist at the UND College
of Engineering and Mines, served as juror. Prekker organized work in the exhibition
to highlight emotional responses to the pandemic.
The artwork she chose depicts feelings ranging from tranquility, to confusion and
despair, to a sense of acceptance and hope for the future. “I was very impressed by
the quality of artwork the students submitted,” Prekker stated.
The works are a powerful testament to students’ emotional response, and resilience, in the midst of the pandemic.

“Each artist clearly put a lot of time and thought into their artwork,” stated Nicole
Derenne, Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Art & Design and Exhibition
Coordinator. “I applaud all the students who submitted their artwork, and the students’
teachers and families who support these young artists.”
