UND Collections
UND and the Chester Fritz Library have a number of historical collections that highlight Norway's people, culture and heritage.
Arne G. Brekke Bygdebok Collection
The Arne G. Brekke Bygdebok Collection in the Elwyn B. Robinson Department of Special Collections, Chester Fritz Library, University of North Dakota, houses an extensive collection of Norwegian local history books called bygdebøker. These books are invaluable research tools for genealogists documenting their Norwegian ancestry. UND’s collection, currently over 1,060 volumes, is one of the largest in the United States. The collection was named in honor of the driving force behind the project, Dr. Arne Brekke.
Norwegian Holdings
Chester Fritz librarian Kristen Borysewicz is working with Norwegian faculty to feature the growing Norwegian collections.
