Advisory Board
Serving the College of Arts & Sciences.
The purpose of the Advisory Board is to:
- Help promote the College of Arts & Sciences to a variety of constituents
- Provide help, guidance, and advice to the College
- Assist with identifying and generating additional resources and financial support for its mission
- Provide an external perspective to the College leadership
- Help build working relationships between the College and the professions through internships, networking, and career placement opportunities
- Develop opportunities to support the educational mission of the college through alumni visits, presentations, and networking events

Join the College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Advisory Board
Term of Membership
Terms for board members are three years and members may serve two consecutive terms. Officers shall serve two-year terms, while at the end of a term, the Vice Chair shall rotate into the role of the Chair and a new Vice Chair is appointed.
Responsibilities of Board Members
Members engage with the college throughout the year in various ways, including:
- Attend board meetings and other College of Arts & Sciences sponsored events as possible at their own cost
- Assist in the development of good relations between the College and the community at-large
- Identify opportunities for student internships, networking, and career placement
- Provide feedback on the effectiveness of existing activities and in meeting the College's mission and strategic goals
- Provide advice and counsel to the Dean regarding key issues as they arise
- Work with the Dean and other members of the College to promote the College, build its recognition and prestige, and assist College endeavors to obtain financial support for its initiatives
- Develop opportunities to support the educational mission of the College through alumni visits, presentations, and networking events
- Assist in organizing and hosting fundraising events
- Support the College with a $1,500 annual gift to a College unrestricted fund.
The College of Arts & Sciences Advisory Board meets three times per year: in-person during September's Homecoming Week in Grand Forks, N.D., virtually in February, and in-person in May at a rotating location in the United States.
