Admitted Student Day

Visit the College of Arts & Sciences for Admitted Student Day.

Friday, March 20 & Friday, April 10

1 - 3 p.m. 

The 18 departments of the College of Arts & Sciences are excited to host admitted students on Friday, March 20 and Friday, April 10. The perfect time to meet with faculty and connect with current students, check out the list below for locations and events planned around campus! Feel free to stop by anytime between 1-3 p.m. to meet with each department.

Admitted Student Day Departments

Anthropology

O'Kelly Hall: Room 231

Through the O'Kelly Hall north entrance, head upstairs, through the fire doors, then turn left to see examples of student-faculty research collaborations. Find Anthropology in the conference room and adjacent study lounge, and use Gillette Hall for elevator access.

Art & Design

Hughes Fine Arts Center: Main Foyer

Meet with faculty members in graphic design, various studio arts, and art history, while receiving a tour of studios. 

Arts & Sciences

Merrifield Hall: Fireplace Lobby

Step inside the main entrance of Merrifield Hall to discover everything UND's largest college has to offer and get your questions answered. 

Applied Humanities

O'Kelly Hall: Room 231 

Learn about opportunities to pursue various career paths through general education requirements. 

Conference Room 231 and the adjacent lounge are easily accessed through the O'Kelly north entrance and up 1.5 levels of stairs, or by the Gillette Hall link elevator. 

Biology

Starcher Hall: Room 101
Take two left turns after entering the building

Meet with a faculty member to answer questions and tour the teaching and research facilities of Biology and Fisheries & Wildlife Biology.

The Café for Active Language Learning

Merrifield Hall: Room 220

Check out this innovative approach to learning about language and culture. Meet faculty and students for a tour, games, and activities in this signature space.

Chemistry

Abbott Hall: Room 232

With faculty members, graduate students, and the undergraduate Chemistry Club, there's lots of opportunities to connect. With liquid nitrogen flash frozen ice pops, test your knowledge with periodic table trivia, and discuss the eight interdisciplinary ACS Chemistry tracks available at UND.

Communication 

O'Kelly Hall: Room 201

Join Communications for donuts and custom sodas for a treat while exploring all the program has to offer. Meet with faculty and current students to learn about Communications and Journalism programs, internships, and real-world opportunities. 

Tour professional video, photo, and podcast studios and try out equipment including cameras, lighting, microphones, and more! Complete the Communication Scavenger Hunt by collecting all four stamps by visiting the studios and facilities to be entered to win a grand prize! 

Communication Sciences & Disorders

Columbia Hall: Inside South Door (facing University Ave)

Join CSD graduate students for a tour of the speech-language and hearing clinic at 1:15 p.m. and visit with the CSD Academic Advisor to get questions answered.  

Criminal Justice

O'Kelly Hall: Hallway near Room 262

Interested in Criminal Justice Studies? Join Dr. Ashley Fansher in the lounge space in the hallway near Room 262 to visit with faculty, learn about programs, and pick up some free merch! 

English

Merrifield Hall: Room 200K 

Find the Department of English on the second floor of Merrifield Hall, in the southwest corner of the building. Join faculty for a tour of department spaces and information for English majors.

Forensic Science

O'Kelly Hall: Room 366

Tour the forensics lab with an optional visit of the Crime Scene House at Gustafson House. All Forensic Science faculty and a few graduate students are available for a meet-and-greet to answer questions on the programs.

General Studies

Merrifield Hall: Fireplace Lobby

Geography & Geographic Information Science

O'Kelly Hall: Room 125

Students and families interested in Environmental Studies and Geography are welcome to visit with faculty and graduate students to learn more about the subject and courses. 

Visitors also have the chance to participate in demonstrations on geospatial technologies such as Geographic Information Systems and the use of drones to capture imagery.

Health Studies, 
Pre-Health / Pre-Medicine

Visit with an advisor to learn more about the program and get your questions answered. 

History & American Indian Studies

O'Kelly Hall: Room 231

Check out a display of student projects, published histories of Grand Forks, research posters, informal "zines", and virtual tours of UND and Grand Forks during a visit. Grab a "Take and Make" Zine kit, and learn about the new accelerated History + Law program, Native Health and the Humanities, Public History, and more.

Languages & Global Studies

Merrifield Hall: Room 319B & Lounge

Learn about studying French, German, Greek, Latin, Norwegian, and Spanish and join faculty and students for game hour. 

Explore the interdisciplinary Global Studies program, as cultural proficiency speaks volumes in today's global market. 

Mathematics & Statistics

O'Kelly Hall: Room 33 - Math Active Learning Lab (MALL), located on the East end of ground floor

Visit the MALL to learn about UND's center for learning mathematics from intermediate algebra through pre-calculus, including coaching, tutoring, and access to interactive instructional software. Those interested in majoring or minoring in mathematics can start their visit at the MALL, then proceed to the Mathematics & Statistics Department in Witmer Hall Room 313.

Music

Hughes Fine Arts Center: Anna Mae Room

Stop in the Anna Mae Room, right next to the foyer, to meet faculty and students. Get information about programs, including bands, ensembles, and events. 

Philosophy & Ethics

Merrifield Hall: Room 319A (Lyn Burton Philosophy & Pre-Law Library)

Interested in Pre-Law? Stop by to learn about this tailor-made program to set up for success in law school. Join Philosophy & Ethics faculty for a tour of the updated Merrifield learning spaces. 

Psychology

Columbia Hall: Room 2106

Learn more about psychology programs by visiting with faculty, check out course offerings, and explore applied experiences available to students. 

Sociology

Gillette Hall: Room 202

Explore the Sociology program by talking with professors, learn about jobs available to Sociology majors, and more. 

Theatre Arts

Starcher Hall: Main Entrance

Meet with the Theatre Arts department in Starcher Hall for a building tour. Students and families can check out the construction progress of the new black box theatre and other spaces available within the program.
