QUEST Scholarship Program
The goal of the program is to recruit and provide support for talented students with financial need, who demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in their chosen field (excluding professional tracks, e.g. medical careers) and are enrolled in the eight supported majors listed below. The QUEST program emphasizes development of scientific research and professional skills.

- Chemistry
- Environmental Studies
- Forensic Science
- Geography & GISc
- Mathematics
- Physics & Astrophysics
The QUEST award is a "last dollar" scholarship, based on a student's federal student aid index (SAI). Award amounts vary for each person, with a maximum award of $15,000 per year for five years, if renewal criteria are met and funding is available.
Selection Criteria
The applicant must demonstrate interest in STEM research careers by providing:
- An essay that shows interest in STEM, including career goals, involvement in extracurricular STEM activities, research experiences, and leadership.
- One or two recommendations. One of the recommendations should be from an instructor/teacher or others involved in the applicant's educational experience.
Scholarship Application Checklist
- Complete the UND admission application.
- Enroll full time in a degree program in one or more of the supported majors.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); this is required to demonstrate unmet need for the financial award package to be provided by UND.
- Complete the scholarship application form.
- Provide the contact information of two recommenders (one of them should be science instructor or research mentor). A link will be provided to each recommender when you fill in the application online.
