
QUEST Scholarship
Question-based Undergraduate Experiential Science Training (QUEST) scholarship.
The UND College of Arts & Sciences team received a grant from the National Science Foundation to support the QUEST (Question-based Undergraduate Experiential Science Training) scholarship for selected STEM majors. Eligible applicants for this scholarship program include talented students with financial needs studying:
- Atmospheric Sciences
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Environmental Studies
- Forensic Science
- Geography & GISc
- Mathematics
- Physics & Astrophysics

Scholarship Application Checklist
- Complete the UND admission application.
- Enroll full time in a degree program in one or more of the supported majors.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is required to demonstrate unmet need for the financial award package to be provided by UND.
- Complete the scholarship application form.
- Provide the contact information of two recommenders (one of them should be science instructor or research mentor). A link is then provided to each recommender submitted in the online application.
Goals
The goal is to recruit and provide support for talented students with financial need, who demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in their chosen field (excluding professional tracks, e.g. medical careers) and are enrolled in the supported majors (listed above). The QUEST program emphasizes the development of scientific research and professional skills.
- Participating students must demonstrate active interest in STEM research careers and have the opportunity to engage in individual and group research projects.
- The QUEST scholarship program may provide financial support for tuition and fees up to $15,000 a year, depending on financial aid eligibility and selection/eligibility criteria and funding availability.
- Scholarships may be renewed for up to five years if renewal criteria are satisfied.
Selection Criteria
The applicant must demonstrate interest in STEM research careers by providing:
- An essay that shows interest in STEM, including career goals, involvement in extracurricular STEM activities, research experiences, and leadership.
- One or two recommendations. One of the recommendations should be from an instructor/teacher or others involved in the applicant's educational experience.
