Grant Johnson
A Cold Walk After Class
My foot squishes snow with every step
A dim grey light hangs above, stapled to the sky like a blanket
I walk down the sidewalk, surrounded by still
Fat, icy pats dot the air
All sound has ceased; except my breathing
All movement has ceased; except my breathing
I get into my car but leave the door open
To let the still take me just a moment longer
About Grant Johnson
I am a sophomore pre-dental student at the University of North Dakota. I began writing in high school as a hobby. Thankfully the habit stuck and it is my favorite way to spend my free time. This is the first time I have ever tried to get anything published and I am very excited to be selected.
