Opera at UND

The UND Opera Theater program provides several opportunities for students to get involved in solo vocal performance through the Department of Music. The opportunities include:

Intro to Opera & Stagecraft (Fall Semester)

This is a course geared towards singers in their first or second year as a voice major. The stagecraft component will include acting and movement techniques from Sanford Meisner, Anne Bogart, Tina Landau, H. Wesley Balk, and others. There will also be an introduction to some composers and styles in opera.

Opera Workshop (Spring Semester)

This course will consist of preparation for the annual opera production. This will be a fully staged opera, with auditions open to all who wish to participate.

Opera Club (Year long)

This group gives students an opportunity to view productions of operas on the big screen. Whether on campus or travelling to see one of the Metropolitan Opera HD broadcasts, students are able to learn a bit about the opera before they watch it, with a brief discussion afterwards.
