IREC Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)
IREC Program in Department of Chemistry, Department of Chemical Engineering, and Atmospheric Science offers annually a 10-week Summer Research Experience for Undergraduate students. The focus of this experience is on the development of innovative solutions to the sustainable and renewable chemicals and energy sources problems currently faced by our society. Each undergraduate student will gain professional research experience working with world-class UND researchers. A variety of social activities are planned to enrich your summer in Grand Forks. Visit us on IREC REU Program.
Biobased Chemicals Workshop (High School)
Biobased Chemical Workshop, the one-day workshop with the new theme "Beyond Crude Oil: Biobased Chemicals and Fuels" is organized during UND spring break. The event occurs at Chemistry Department, Abbott Hall, University of North Dakota. Tours are scheduled to Airport to see University of North Dakota's Cessna Citation Research Aircraft.
Air Pollution workshop (High School)
At years 2007 - 2013, the Air Pollution workshop was the annual outreach initiative organized typically during the UND spring break in the Chemistry Department for high schools students funded by NSF. The aim of the workshop was fun and interactive experience while seeing the UND life. High school students usually came as groups.
Science for Kids (Elementary School)
Science for kids is our program for elementary school kids. It was first organized as part of the program of Young Scientists/Engineer Academy, but it has been also coordinated for local daycare and elementary school (K-3). Kids learned how the molecules are built, what are the gases around us such as hydrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen, nitrogen and had fun to experiment with the gas properties testing expansion of CO2 from the solid state to the gas state. Burning in the oxygen and saw the explosion of a hydrogen balloon.
