UND has a number of studios and facilities for students to hone their craft.
Hand Building Studio
The hand building area contains six large work tables, 2 Slab rollers (Bailey & Bent), shelving for storage of work and 2 damp rooms.
Throwing Studio
This room has two large work tables, two wedging tables, 16 wheels (Brent C, Brent CXC & Shimpo Whisper), 4 kick wheels and shelving for storage of student work.
Glaze Area
This room is specially vented for glaze mixing. It contains a large spray booth, 4 sinks, studio glazes and student lockers.
Clay Making Studio
The clay mixing room houses the raw materials for mixing clay and contains a Fine Crusher, a Bluebird mixer, and a 6" bench grinder.
Kiln Room and Kiln Yard
The kiln room houses 2 Raku kilns, 4 Electric kilns (Paragon & L&L), HF-30 Alpine Updraft kiln, and a 54 cu.ft. Fiber Bailey Down Draft kiln. The Kiln Yard has 1 Raku kiln, a raku/pit fire area, Soda Kiln, Salt Kiln, and a Wood Kiln.
Visiting Artist Program
The Visiting Artist Program is sponsored by The Myers Foundation. Past visiting artists have included: Robert Archambeau, John Glick, Josh DeWeese, Jeff Oestreich, Sandra Blain, John Thies, Bill Van Gilder, Lana Wilson, Gary Erickson, Frank Martin, Amy Smith and Von Venhuizen.
