Phonology From The Ground Up: The Basics
This is the May 2018 (student) edition of my introduction to phonological analysis, Phonology from the Ground Up: The Basics , with the primary focus on basic phonology (postlexical phonology, phonemic analysis, automatic rules), including syllables and distinctive features. The book features a good number of exercises based on data from a wide variety of languages.
Cmiique Iitom: The Seri Language* (draft)
The PDF file linked here is the current draft (spring 2016) of a reference grammar of Seri, an indigenous language isolate of northwestern Mexico. Various consistency checks and improvements need to be made; the index is very incomplete.
The grammar continues to be revised in preparation for publication. Comments, suggestions, corrections, requests for additional information, and criticisms are solicited so that the grammar can be improved and made more informative and useful. (Write to me at Steve_Marlett #at# sil.org.)
Author: Stephen A. Marlett
Research for this grammar has been facilitated by a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities' program for Documenting Endangered Languages, (FN-50007-06), gratefully acknowledged.
