Awards, Theses and Scholarships
Every fall semester, the psychology department accepts applications for student awards. The department honors students for outstanding research, outstanding service, and outstanding student. A call for applications will be put out sometime in early September with the awards presented during the Northern Lights Psychology Conference in October. Call for Undergraduate Travel and Research Awards
Committee requires listing of research activities and all pubs/presentations in which student is author/co-author as well as copy of current vita. Brief synopsis (1-2 pages) of what award would be used for and research plan are required. Undergrad GPA (overall) must be 3.2 or higher. Preference will be given to Psychology majors. Award will not exceed $250. Please note that your application for this award represents an obligation by you to initiate the project if full or partial funds are awarded.
Committee requires a) evidence of travel and b) purpose of travel (i.e., conference presentation, workshop). Brief description of conference or reason for travel is required. Preference will be given to students presenting research at national/international conferences. Undergrad GPA (overall) must be 3.2 or higher. Preference will be given to Psychology majors. Award will not exceed $500. Please submit application prior to travel.
Deadlines for materials for the above awards is November 1st. Materials should be submitted to Dr. Heather Terrell electronically (email@example.com). Please be sure to indicate explicitly to which award you are applying. Priority for awards will be given to new applicants (i.e., those who have not received one previously).
If you are currently a last semester sophomore or junior; or senior with at least one year of undergraduate study left and have considered graduate school--- the McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program at the University of North Dakota might be in your future.

Undergraduate Honors Thesis Projects
Every semester, we have many students complete an independent research project in psychology for the completion of their Honors Thesis. Theses can be supervised by psychology department faculty and credits earned for the project are run by the Honors department. Completing an honors thesis gives students the unique opportunity, as an undergraduate, to be involved in their own research project. For those intending to apply to graduate school, this is a fantastic opportunity to get the kind of experience that will help you succeed in furthering your education.
