The Psychology Department at the University of North Dakota seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to study psychological and behavioral mechanisms relevant to understanding sexual violence in teens and young adults. This position is part of UND’s Grand Challenge initiative focused on helping rural communities solve their unique health and social problems. The initial appointment is for one year and is renewable for a second year pending satisfactory performance. The position will be full-time and benefited with a flexible start date of no later than 8/16/2019.
Housed within the University of North Dakota’s largest college, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Department of Psychology has 16 full-time faculty and approximately 550 undergraduate majors and 150 graduate students with programs in Clinical (APA-approved), Experimental, and Forensic Psychology.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Postdoctoral Research Associate is a position under the supervision of Dr. RaeAnn Anderson. Dr. Anderson’s current research focuses on the development of new interventions to reduce the risk of sexual violence in college women, identify new intervention targets for reducing men’s sexual perpetration, and measurement issues in sexual violence research. The postdoctoral research associate will be involved in the development of a new sexual violence prevention intervention for women and collecting data for a large-scale study on alcohol and sexual violence in college men. The postdoctoral research associate will also be involved with new projects related to rural health challenges in North Dakota communities, with preferences to address Native American communities. The postdoctoral research associate will be encouraged to develop at least one independent project that is consistent with Dr. Anderson’s overall research agenda. Although this position will primarily focus on work with Dr. Anderson, there will be opportunity to collaborate with faculty and student researchers both within the Department of Psychology and across the university who are involved in the Rural Health and Communities Grand Challenge initiative.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will have the opportunity to publish multiple first author peer-reviewed manuscripts. We seek a candidate with a strong interest in sexual violence and/or violence prevention especially as pertains to rural and Native American communities. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with students, community organizations, and interdisciplinary research teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing manuscripts, supervising undergraduate research assistants, and helping supervise data collection. S/he will also collaborate on proposals to external granting agencies. The successful candidate will be expected to mentor undergraduate and graduate students and interact with the larger psychology community at the University of North Dakota.
- PhD in psychology, public health, counseling, social work or related field.
- Experience with advanced quantitative research methods (SEM, hierarchical linear modeling, etc).
- Experience obtaining human subjects approvals.
- Evidence of a strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Grant writing experience.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.
- Experience with health and social problems in rural and/or Native American communities.

The Department of Psychology at the University of North Dakota (UND) is searching to fill a full-time instructor position to begin in the Fall of 2019, contingent upon availability of funding. The appointment will begin on August 16, 2019.
The Department of Psychology has approximately 500 undergraduate majors and 150 graduate students with programs in Clinical (APA-approved), Experimental, and Forensic Psychology.

Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will carry a 4/4/ course load (Fall/Spring semester) encompassing a mix of on campus courses and online courses and will be expected to provide high-impact individual instruction for undergraduate students, including advising.
