Pre-Osteopathic Medicine, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Physician Assistant............3.300
Pre-Chiropractic, Pre-Podiatry, Pre-Mortuary Science............................3.000
Our Protocols for Declaring Pre-Health
Protocols for declaring and participating in any of our Pre-Health Programs are outlined on each specific Pre-Health Program webpage. Please use one of the links at the upper left of this page to discover more about the specifics of the Pre-Health Program that interests you.
Our Advising Methods
Freshmen advising is done through several large group meetings during the fall semester, and one small group meeting during the spring semester. Attendance at all of these meetings is mandatory. Freshmen who attend all meetings and have maintained the minimum cumulative GPA required for their program by the beginning of the fall of their sophomore year are then free to schedule individual visits with a Health Sciences Advisor throughout the rest of their time at UND.
Due to the high number of Pre-Health students, and in the interest of efficiency for all, individual advising for qualified sophomores, juniors and seniors is available by appointment only. You must be declared in a Pre-Health program and must use Starfish in order to set up your appointments. Neither advisor schedules their own appointments by e-mail or phone. All students must check in for individual appointments on the iPad located inside of the Office of Advising and Academic Success (Room 1000, Columbia Hall). After checking in, please proceed down the hall to the designated waiting area outside of the Health Sciences Advising suite (Room 1914-1916).
Special informational sessions on specific topics (standardized test prep, application procedures, interviewing strategies, etc.) are offered by our Health Sciences Advisors throughout the school year. Attendance is not mandatory but highly encouraged for you when you are at the point in your career where a given topic is relevant.
Newsletters are published monthly during the school year to keep you up to date with various university and extracurricular activities and opportunities. These newsletters are required reading for all Pre-Health students. They are e-mailed directly to declared Pre-Health students as well as posted on the Pre-Health Newsletters page of this website.
You will receive a UND e-mail account when you arrive on campus - it is the official means of university communication. From time to time our Health Sciences Advisors may send out notices this way if the situation warrants it. You are therefore expected to check your UND e-mail account regularly - daily is great, but several times a week should suffice. While our Health Sciences Advisors do not mind if you e-mail them a short question from time to time, their preferred form of advising is in person. They will always attempt to respond to you in a timely manner, however that may not always be possible in heavy advising times. E-mail is answered only during the regular hours of the work week.
For 2018-2019, all currently enrolled, qualified and declared Pre-Health students will be advised as follows:
- Incoming Freshmen: Both advisors will work with freshmen in group meetings only - the first required meeting is August 20, 2018 at 8pm in the Reed Keller Auditorium (room 1350) of Columbia Hall (enter the building through the south doors only)
- Sophomores: individual advising by Shannon only
- Juniors and Seniors: individual advising by Julie only
Prospective UND students (current high school students or transfer students) may schedule a visit to UND which includes a meeting with a Health Sciences Advisor by calling the UND Admissions Office at 701.777.4463.
