Electronic Composition Competition 2012
The University of North Dakota Department of Music seeks new electronic compositions emulating the style or styles of Isao Tomita, Vangelis, and Larry Fast (Synergy), analog musical artists from the 1970's. 1st prize is $250.
Eligibility:
- Composers must be enrolled students at a Grand Forks, North Dakota School District High School.
Guidelines:
- Musical entries should emulate the early work of Isao Tomita, Vangelis, and/or Larry Fast (Synergy). Sample audio files can be found on YouTube at the addresses below. Each composer may submit up to a maximum of two entries. Compositions must not exceed six minutes in length each. Entries should be produced electronically, whether by computer or other means.
Submission:
- Applications should contain a CD or DVD recording of each composition. The recording should be clearly labeled with the title, track number, composer, and duration of each composition. Also include a cover letter with the following information: Composer's name and contact information (mailing address, telephone, and email), title and duration of the composition(s), year that each composition(s) was completed, composer's current high school, and a paragraph describing each composition submitted.

Deadline:
- Applications must be postmarked by April 2, 20121. Winners will be announced by May 1, 2012.
Prizes:
- 1st prize - $250
- 2nd prize - $100
- 3rd prize - $50
- The judges reserve the right not to offer 2nd or 3rd prizes. Each applicant may win a maximum of only one prize.
