Summer 2012 - NORW 101 - ONLINE
Stand out in the crowd – take a Less Commonly Taught Language! UND offers two online courses in beginning Norwegian (NORW 101 and NORW 102) in addition to our face-to-face courses. These introductory language courses provide students with the tools to use norsk as a listener, speaker, reader, and writer in everyday situations involving daily events, food, the weather, sports, clothing, health, likes/dislikes, and travel. In addition to increasing students’ knowledge of the Norwegian language, a second goal of the course is to strengthen students’ ability to assess, interpret, and discuss Norway on a global scale. An asynchronous course that can fit with any schedule, we use a textbook series geared for American language learners. This is a great way to learn one year of language (or fulfill a language requirement) – in just 8 months!
Registration for all upcoming online Norwegian language courses begins April 20. At that time you will be able to register at these links to start learning norsk: NORW 101 in Summer 2012, NORW 101 and NORW 102 for Fall 2012. Join us today!
These courses currently fulfill two Essential Studies requirements at UND, namely Breadth of Knowledge (Fine Arts & Humanities) as well as Special Emphasis (Global Diversity [G]). It is also an ideal springboard for students intending to study abroad at any of the three destinations for UND undergraduates: the American College of Norway (Moss), the University of Oslo (Oslo), and the BI Norwegian School of Management (Oslo). Plan to spend a semester or a year with us to develop you language fluency and grow your cultural familiarity with Norway. For more information, contact Dr. Melissa Gjellstad.
