UND Geographers in the News 2013-2014
June 10, 2014: Amber Boll, 2013 UND Geography alumna, receives a Graduate Research Fellowship Award from the National Science Foundation! Her selection was based on her "outstanding abilities and accomplishments, as well as [her] potential to contribute to strengthening the vitality of the US science and engineering enterprise." Amber is a Master's student in the Department of Geosciences at Georgia State University. Congratulations Amber!
May 9, 2014: Geographers and friends of geography gather for the 2014 GTU picnic at Sertoma Park in Grand Forks.
May 1, 2014: Zachary Braun successfully defended his Master's thesis called What Stages In The Phenology Of Corn Are The Most Correlated With Rainfed Corn Yields In The Corn Belt Using Remote Sensing? Congratulations Zach!
March 12, 2014: Geography undergraduates, graduates, and faculty presented posters at the 2014 Scholarly Forum.
December 9, 2013: Marla Striped Face Collins, a graduate student, is the new Tribal Relations Specialist on the Mark Twain National Forest.
November 22, 2013: During the GTU/UND GEOG Banquet, Dr. Michael DeMers (New Mexico State University) received the Distinguished Alumni Award.
November 22, 2013: During the GTU/UND GEOG Banquet, four UND GEOG students received awards. Undergraduate student Benjamin York received the B.L. Wills scholarship. Undergraduate student Hannah Bahnmiller and graduate students Mikel Smith and Lori Young received the Virginia George scholarship.
November 22, 2013: Geographers and friends gather at the annual GTU/UND GEOG Banquet.
November 21, 2013: Dr. Michael DeMers (New Mexico State University) is the third Fall 2013 Forum Speaker.
November 20, 2013: Winners of the 2013 Geography Awareness Week Photo Contest are undergraduates Carmen Cryer (Psychology/Elem. Ed.) and Hannah Bahnmiller (Geography/Anthropology).
November 14, 2013: Geographers were nominated for four awards and win three of them in the annual Stone Soup Awards Luncheon. More information about the awards here.
October 16, 2013: Dr. Ann Reed (UND Anthropology) is the second Fall 2013 Forum Speaker.
October 15, 2013: The Dakota Student newspaper published an article about the Youth Service Ambassador award recently received by Geography undergraduate student, Hannah Bahnmiller.
October 10-12, 2013: Dr. Rundquist and three graduate students (Brett, Rick, and Zach) participated in the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Great Plains Rocky Mountain Region of the Association of American Geographers.
October 4, 2013: Dr. David Engle is giving a seminar and workshop on land management as part of the seminar series sponsored by the UND College of Arts and Sciences and the Gransberg Family Endowment in Environmental Studies. September 27, 2013: Dr. Vandeberg takes students to Turtle River State Park as part of GEOG576 Field Methods.
