Graduate Studies
Welcome Current & Prospective Graduate Students
The Communication Program at the University of North Dakota has a long record of producing distinguished scholars and professionals. We offer the Master of Arts degree in Communication and the Ph.D. degree in Communication and Public Discourse. Our outstanding graduate faculty provides a rich diversity of instruction, representing a wide variety of theoretical, professional, and methodological interests. Our curriculum strikes a purposeful and creative balance between specialization and integration among the various approaches to the study of human communication. Graduate students plan individualized programs of study to accommodate their particular interests and career goals, guided by their academic adviser and faculty advisory committee. Working with over 250 undergraduate majors, the majority of our graduate students hold teaching assistantships, contributing to understanding of the field of communication from ancient times to the projected future. Our programs offer opportunities for graduate students to flourish in a university culture committed to social, ethnic, and intellectual diversity.
