Richard Aregood is a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial writer who has served as editorial page editor of the Philadelphia Daily News and the Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger.
He taught at Rutgers University and the University of South Florida before becoming the Charles Johnson Professor of Journalism at the University of North Dakota.
Among his national writing awards are the Pulitzer Prize, Distinguished Writing Award of the American Society of Newspaper Editors (3 times), the Walker Stone Award of Scripps-Howard Newspapers (finalist citation 3 times) and the National Headliners Award. His cartoonist in Philadelphia, Signe Wilkinson, also won a Pulitzer.
At the Daily News, he also worked as a reporter, rewriteman, rock critic, city editor, deputy sports editor, and assistant managing editor before moving to the editorial page.
He is a member of the Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni and was a contributing writer on two journalism textbooks.
